Yoto icons, explained
The little pixel pictures next to each track are the part of Make Your Own cards kids notice most — and the part parents most often leave blank.
The format
Yoto player icons are 16 × 16 pixel images. The player screen is tiny and low-resolution, so anything detailed collapses into noise. The icons that work are bold silhouettes with two or three colors: a moon, a star, a dinosaur, a music note, a face.
Where to get icons
- Yoto's icon library. Inside the MYO editor, each track has a search box for Yoto's own icons. It's decent for common objects and animals.
- Community packs. Parent groups share themed pixel-art sets (holidays, Bluey-style characters, instruments). Check the license before using them.
- Draw your own. Any pixel-art tool works. Export as PNG at 16×16, or draw larger on a 16×16 grid.
- Let the app suggest. Quick MYO Plus looks at each track title and proposes three to five matching icons, so "Twinkle Twinkle" gets a star without you hunting for one.
Adding an icon to a track
- Open the card in the Yoto app or at my.yotoplay.com.
- Tap the track's icon placeholder.
- Search the library or upload your image.
- Save the card. The player picks it up on its next sync.
Doing this for twelve tracks on a phone is tedious, which is why so many cards end up with the default grey square. Quick MYO's card editor lets you set icons in a swipe, or apply one style across the whole card.
Frequently asked questions
What size are Yoto icons?
Yoto display icons are 16×16 pixels. Yoto's editor accepts larger images and scales them down, but drawing at 16×16 gives you full control over how the icon actually looks on the player.
Where can I find free Yoto icons?
Yoto's own MYO editor includes a built-in icon library you can search. Parent communities also share icon packs; check the license before reusing them. Quick MYO Plus can suggest icons for each track automatically.
Can I use my own picture as a Yoto icon?
Yes. Any image can be uploaded as a track icon in the MYO editor. Simple, high-contrast shapes read best at 16×16 — photos tend to become a blur.
Can I set the same icon for every track on a card?
Yes, but you normally have to set it track by track in Yoto's editor. Quick MYO lets you apply one icon style across a whole card in one step.
